Jonathan’s store is stacked with snacks, drinks, and other goodies to keep staff and participant at the Day-Hab well fed. Jonathan takes great pride in his store and has made amazing progress since it opened!

‘Got Talent?’ Top 12 Announced!

The Top 12 contestants will take to the stage one last time at the Grand Finale of Got Talent? A Competition to Benefit Autism. On May 24 at the Times Square Arts Center our talented finalists will be awaiting the words from celebrity panel Leslie, Ruth, Rachel and John – thats funny man Leslie Jordan, (Will & Grace) the sexy Dr. Ruth, Telsey+Co Casting Director Rachel Hoffman and Broadway & TV Star/Puppet Master John Tartaglia with a special musical performance by legendary diva Martha Wash (Its Raining Men)
“The quality of performances this year greatly exceeded even our highest expectations said Gary A. Maffei, Executive Director of QSAC. This has been a wonderful opportunity for QSAC to expand its visibility and raise much needed funds for our programs.”

Cocktail Extravaganza and Online Auction

The Board of Directors of QSAC requests the pleasure of your company at the Cocktail Extravaganza 2010 honoring Howard J. Capell, Esq., Evan Metalios, Esq., and Frank Parisi, Director of the Queens OMRDD office.
The event will take place on June 18, 2010 at Belmont Park Race Track in Elmont, NY from 5PM – 9PM. Festivities include cocktail dnatoire, three twilight races, auction and program.

QSAC’s Biggest Loser: Shonniece Holland

At the start of the new year, QSAC CEO Gary A. Maffei challenged his staff to get fit by pledging $1 to QSAC for every pound lost. In the end, it was Shonniece Holland of QSAC’s Bronx Day Hab who walked away with the title of QSAC’s Biggest Loser and the grand prize of $350.
“In this tough economy, we need to be very creative to raise the necessary funds to continue our vital work,”  said Maffei. “While deciding on my new year resolution to improve my general health, it occurred to me to put the two together and the challenge idea was born.”

This Year’s 5K was QSAC’s Best Yet

The 2010 QSAC 5K was the organization’s best yet.  In a year of government budget cuts and increased cost of services, QSAC raised over $50,000 – a true feat as most other nonprofits struggle to raise funds via althetic events. “This is an event that could not happen without QSAC staff and families… It gets bigger every year,” said Gary Maffei, CEO. “I express my heartfelt thanks to all the QSAC employees, their families and friends who ran the 5k and to everyone who made contributions to the runners/walkers.”
Due to the overwhelming positive feedback, QSAC has already begun planning the 2011 race.

QSAC Announces Top 24 ‘Got Talent?’ Semifinalists!

QSAC has officially announced the Top 24 semifinalists for Got Talent?: A Competition to Benefit Autism. In the next stage of the competition, the industry judges from the Quarterfinals will choose one third of the winners to move forward and two thirds will be chosen by online voters. Each contestant has been designated a webpage on the event website to promote his/her talent and raise funds. As in the Quarterfinals, the industry judges will be involved in the selection process. The videos will be aired on from April 28-May 10, 2010. These votes will determine which contestants will get to perform live at the Grand Finale at The Times Square Arts Center.

Semifinalists include QSACers Christopher DiNatale (Day School), Wendell Simpkins (Quality Assurance), Jose Rivera (After School Program), and Yessenia German (Fiscal Department).
